Edinburgh-based families with bilingual children aged 5-7 who speak French and English are invited to participate in a research study on how bilingualism affects learning to pronounce words

What is the study?

The study comprises an 20-30 minute online experiment through Zoom where children will have to repeat made-up words (called ‘magic words’ in the study), and they will be audio recorded. Parents will be asked to complete a questionnaire about their children’s language exposure, which will take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Who can participate?

  • Bilingual children aged 5-7 who speak French and English

Who is running the study?

Researcher Eve Martin at the University of Edinburgh. This project has been approved by the University of Edinburgh PPLS Research Ethics review.
