The branch provides information about bilingualism across the lifespan. Its specialist areas of expertise are: bilingualism from birth – simultaneous bilingual development; English as an Additional Language learners; and language attrition in adults. Our aim is to work collaboratively with the Reading branch of Bilingualism Matters to provide advice services to parents of bilingual children, teachers, nursery staff, and speech language therapist to support bilingual development and maintenance as well as ensure best practice. Our outreach work is mainly set in London and East Anglia.

The Bilingualism Matters Symposium (BMS) is an interdisciplinary conference organised by Bilingualism Matters. It is open to researchers as well as practitioners, irrespective of their affiliation with Bilingualism Matters. The BMS aims to stimulate a productive dialogue between researchers in different academic disciplines and practitioners in different sectors of society. BMS will take place in Edinburgh from March 24-25, 2025.
