The University of Tartu's Centre for Multilingualism joined the BM network in April 2025 as Bilingualism Matters @ University of Tartu. The Centre was established in the Institute for Estonian and General Linguistics as (1) a contact point for providing academic information to anyone interested in advice on multilingualism, especially related to raising and educating multilingual children, (2) a virtual site for sharing academically informed information and resources on language learning and multilingualism, and (3) a forum for researchers of multilingualism in Estonia to discuss related topics, and particularly topics related to multilingual children and the Estonian educational system. Expertise at BM@UT includes linguistic development of simultaneous and sequential multilingual children, multilingual families, multilingualism at school and at the university, cooperation between educators and families, diagnostic tools and logopedic support, and Estonian as a heritage language. The directors of the branch are Prof. Virve Vihman and Associate Prof. Kerttu Rozenvalde.

The Bilingualism Matters Symposium (BMS) is an interdisciplinary conference organised by Bilingualism Matters. It is open to researchers as well as practitioners, irrespective of their affiliation with Bilingualism Matters. The BMS aims to stimulate a productive dialogue between researchers in different academic disciplines and practitioners in different sectors of society. BMS will take place in Milan, Italy from 28th -30th April 2025
